How do I apply for NDIS funding in New South Wales?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for Australians with a disability. If you live in New South Wales and have a disability, you may be eligible for support from a registered NDIS provider. There are four steps to applying for NDIS funding:

  1. Check your eligibility. To be eligible for NDIS funding, you must have a significant and permanent disability that affects your ability to participate in everyday activities. You must also be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and reside in an NDIS-eligible area.
  2. Get in touch with the NDIS. Once you have confirmed your eligibility, you will need to contact the NDIS to discuss your support needs. You can do this by calling their hotline or visiting their website.
  3. Complete an application form. After discussing your needs with the NDIS, you will need to complete an application form. This form can be found on the NDIS website.
  4. Attend an interview. Once your application has been received, you will be asked to attend an interview. During this interview, an NDIS representative will assess your needs and determine whether you are eligible for funding. If you are approved, they will develop a personalised plan for your support needs.

How do I apply for NDIS in NSW as a provider?

If you want to be a registered NDIS provider, you must register with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (as of 1 December 2020). You can register to become a provider on the NDIS Commission website.

Who is eligible for NDIS NSW?

To be eligible for specialist disability accommodation supports and funding, NDIS participnts’ sickness or medical condition must result in considerable disability and permanent impairment (physical, intellectual, cognitive, neurological, visual, auditory, or psychosocial).

How do I become a registered NDIS provider in NSW?

Becoming a registered NDIS providers in NSW makes sense.

As an unregistered NDIS provider, while you might be providing quality disability services, you will be excluded from supporting NDIS-managed participants in the scheme. In other words, unregistered providers cannot support NDIS participants, as they have not gone through the proper applications, processes and other elements of the NDIS code of conduct.

Registered and unregistered providers can both provide disability support services, but only NDIS registered providers can access the full range of support and servicing opportunities available in Australia.
