Simplified NDIS Reports: Helping Providers Make Sense of Complex Data

September 28, 2022

The NDIS is complicated and overwhelming at the best of times. Trying to read and decipher an NDIS quarterly or annual report is enough to send any provider over the edge.

Large complex graphs and tables, lengthy explanations, terms you have never heard of and data for days. Finding information relevant to your business is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The truth is that NDIS reports are not user-friendly for the average NDIS provider.

If you relate to this, keep reading!

Why Are NDIS Reports so Hard to Read?

The answer to this question is much simpler than reading a quarterly report. The NDIS writes these expansive documents for Disability Ministers to analyse and review. They are designed to provide detailed information about NDIS participants in each state and territory and funding of supports by the NDIA.

What hasn’t been taken into consideration is that Disability Ministers have the benefit of ministerial staff to help them comb through all the information and data. As a provider, it is likely you do not have the staff, money or time to rummage through these reports. Hence, you are here reading this article!

What NDIS Providers Should Look For in NDIS Reports

NDIS provider businesses should always be looking for information that will benefit the growth and expansion of their business.

For Example:
Suppose you are a small business providing NDIS participants with speech therapy. In that case, you may want to find specific statistics and data on disability groups like autism, brain injury, stroke and developmental delay. You may want to find out how many new participants are in these groups and others that are relevant to your field. More specific information about participants by group could also be of interest, like jurisdiction, average individual payments, and even age range.

5 Things to Think About When Reading a Quarterly or Annual NDIS Report

Participant numbers related to your registered groups
Participant numbers by disability and other relevant categories
