Specialising in NDIS registration, audit and renewal
You're here because you want to start an NDIS business and help people. But, it turns out, getting started is not that simple. Now, you find yourself spending months going around in circles: reading government websites that raise more questions than they answer, or starting the self-assessment, realising how deep it goes and stopping. You are not alone. We've helped thousands of providers through exactly this. With the right team, the path forward is clearer than you think.
NDIS registration is more involved than most people expect.
Here's what you're dealing with.
Maybe you've spent the last few weeks googling "how to register as an NDIS provider." Or you've started the self-assessment questions and got stuck.Or you've come to realise that this process is way more confusing than you initially thought.
This isn t because you lack the skills. The NDIS registration is simply a complex process, with evolving standards, policies, and audit prep that get stricterover time. Going through it alone or with the wrong guidance will costs you more than you think.

The challenge is real
It's not just a form. There are up to 36 registration groups to choose from, up to 60 self-assessment questions to answer, and anywhere from 10 to 200 policy documents required, each built to a standard the Commission actively monitors. Miss one, and it shows.
There’s little room for error
A single non-conformity at audit can set you back months. Most applicants who go in unprepared spend 6 to 12 months resubmitting. Being cheap is expensive: failed audits, extensions, and corrective audits cost far more than getting it right the first time.
Wrong choices will cost you
Choose the wrong registration groups and your audit scope and cost blow out beyond what your business actually needs. Every month without registration is a month you can't formally support the people who need you.
The good news? We specialise in NDIS Registration.
We've guided more than 6,000 providers through the NDIS registration process — former NDIS employees, health professionals, first-time business owners starting from scratch and established ones adding NDIS to their services. We've seen every scenario, every stumbling block, and every mistake that costs people months. When you work with Provider+, you get that experience applied directly to your situation.

You'll leave knowing this is achievable and exactly where to start, whether you decide to work with us or not.
2
Guiding your application together
For many of our clients, this is the first time they've encountered NDIS registration requirements. Although this process requires your active involvement, we’ll guide you through every part: your self-assessments written in your own words, your policies built to audit standards, and your documentation representing your specific business. Our consultants are by your side, answering every question and making sure nothing is missed.
3
Audit preparation
Depending on your registration type, we prepare you for your Stage 1 audit and, if applicable, your Stage 2 one. We walk you through exactly what your assessor will look at and make sure you can speak confidently to every part of your application, your policies, and how your business actually operates. You will feel prepared and confident, knowing that you can answer any of your auditor’s questions.
4
Registration and beyond
Once you're registered, the foundation we've built together becomes the platform your business runs on. If you want us to stay alongside you, we'll keep your documentation and policies current as your business evolves and as the Commission updates its requirements. And when the time comes, whether that's a mid-term audit or renewal, we'll make sure you're prepared and ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does NDIS registration actually take from start to finish?
Every provider's timeline is different and ultimately the Commission controls the final decision. That said, based on what we've seen with our clients, most move from initial application to registration decision within 3 to 9 months. Some have been approved in as little as 4 to 6 weeks post-audit. Others take longer, usually when applications need resubmission or audit preparation takes more time. The biggest factor we've seen is how prepared you are going in. Providers who start with the right registration groups, well-written self-assessments, and strong documentation consistently move through faster than those who don't.
What's the difference between a verification audit and a certification audit, and which one will I need?
The type of audit you need is determined entirely by which registration groups you select. Lower-risk supports like household tasks or travel/transport qualify for verification, which is a desktop document review. Higher-risk supports like SIL, Behaviour Support, or High Intensity Daily Personal Activities require certification, which involves a two-stage process: a document review (Stage 1) and an on-site assessment (Stage 2). If even one of your selected registration groups triggers certification, your entire application goes through that pathway. This is one of the most consequential decisions in the registration process, and getting it right from the start matters.
Can I register for as many NDIS registration groups as possible to maximise my market?
This is one of the most common and costly mistakes new providers make. Over-registering inflates your audit scope and cost, requires compliance across Practice Standards you may not yet be ready for, and can result in a failed or significantly delayed registration. Each group you select adds complexity. The right approach is to register for exactly the groups that match the services you can genuinely deliver and demonstrate, no more. Provider+ consultants assess your planned services and recommend precisely which groups to select, balancing your market access against audit cost and readiness.
What do NDIS auditors actually look for, and what causes providers to fail?
Auditors do not just check that your policies exist. They assess whether your documentation reflects how your business actually operates, whether your staff can walk them through it, and whether there is evidence of implementation including training records, incident logs, and signed acknowledgements. The most common causes of non-conformance are generic or AI-generated policies that do not reflect your specific business, self-assessment responses that are templated rather than written in the provider's own words, and key personnel who cannot speak confidently to their compliance obligations. The NDIS Commission screens for all of these.
Do I need to worry about mandatory registration if I am planning to deliver SIL?
Yes, and urgently. From 1 July 2026, mandatory registration commences for all SIL providers. Previously, unregistered providers could deliver SIL to self-managed or plan-managed participants without registration. That is no longer permitted. SIL is classified as a high-risk support requiring a certification audit, compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards Core Module and relevant supplementary modules, and NDIS Worker Screening Checks for all staff. Given that registration typically takes 3 to 12 months, anyone planning to deliver SIL who has not started the process is already running late.
What are the transition requirements for SIL?
As part of the reforms, a new registration group, 0138 – Assistance with Supported Independent Living (SIL), will commence from 1 July 2026, with mandatory registration requirements and new SIL-specific Practice Standards applying to providers delivering SIL supports. Existing registered providers holding registration group 0115 will transition automatically to 0138, while currently unregistered SIL providers will be required to apply for registration by 1 October 2026 to continue delivering SIL supports during the transition period, with all providers expected to demonstrate compliance to the new Practice Standards from 1 July with enhanced audit, quality assurance, worker screening, governance and safeguarding requirements under the new regulatory framework.
What does working with Provider+ actually look like? Is it just consulting, or do you work through it with me?
Provider+ works through registration with you, not just for you. That distinction matters because your auditor will ask you and your team to speak to your compliance directly. If someone else wrote it and you have never engaged with it, that conversation is very difficult. Our consultants guide you through identifying the right registration groups, developing your policies and procedures to audit standard, coaching you through your self-assessment responses in your own words, and preparing you for exactly what your auditor will assess. You understand and can defend every part of what we build together.
Do I need a disability or healthcare background to register as an NDIS provider?
No. The NDIS has a lived and learned experience pathway, and eligibility is assessed against the services you plan to deliver, not your professional background alone. We have registered builders, gardeners, cleaners, counsellors, nurses, allied health professionals, and people making a complete career change. What matters is that you or your team have the qualifications, experience, and capacity to deliver the specific supports you are registering for. We assess your eligibility on your first call and tell you honestly where you stand.
What is myID and do I need it before I start?
Yes and it's worth sorting this before anything else. myID is the Australian Government's digital identity system and you will need a strong level account to access the Commission's portal and complete your registration application. In most states this requires an Australian passport plus a supporting document such as a driver's licence. From September 2026 PRODA will be phased out and myID will be mandatory for all providers. Every month we work with providers who are delayed because their myID isn't set up or their identification documents don't match. Sort it early as it can hold up your entire application if it's not in place.
How much does NDIS registration cost?
There are two separate costs involved. The first is the government audit fee, which is paid directly to your chosen auditor and varies depending on your registration groups and audit type. Verification audits are generally lower cost. Certification audits, particularly those covering higher-risk supports like SIL or Behaviour Support, cost more. The second is the cost of working with a consultant like Provider+ to prepare your application, policies, and audit readiness. We provide full pricing on your clarity call. What we can tell you is that the cost of getting registration wrong — failed audits, resubmissions, and corrective audits — consistently exceeds the cost of doing it properly the first time.
I already run a business — can I still register for NDIS?
Yes, this is more common than most people think. Many of our clients come to us running an existing business in aged care, allied health, cleaning, trades, or community services and want to add NDIS to what they offer. The registration process is the same, but the starting point is different. We map your existing services and qualifications against NDIS registration requirements and build your compliance framework around what you already have. You don't need to start from scratch. Book a call and we'll show you exactly what the path looks like for your specific business.
